7 October 2009

Maputo, Mozambique, 7 Oct – Mozambique’s Institute for Export Promotion (Ipex) has launched a public tender to draw up the construction project for the new fairs and exhibitions centre in Marracuene, on the outskirts of the Mozambican capital, Maputo.

According to information gathered by Macauhub, Ipex plans to build a multipurpose exhibition centre that will serve to hold international fairs as well as other events, and which will also have office space.

This year’s edition of the Maputo International Fair (Facim), held recently, was the last to take place in downtown Maputo, and the next edition will take place in the new facilities in Marracuene district, some 30 kilometres north of Maputo.

The fair’s facilities will be built on an area of 20 hectares and the project includes a sports field.

Construction of the new facilities will be funded, initially, by the government but Ipex plans also to involve the private sector in the project. (macauhub)
