Dundo, Angola, 12 Oct – The aerodromes in the municipality of Lucapa and the mining town of Nzagi, in Cambulo municipality in Angola’s Lunda Sul province, will begin to be refurbished this month, the national director for infrastructure of Angola’s national airport management company Enana.

José Luís Coelho, who Thursday presided, in both locations, over the acts to hand over the projects, said that together they accounted for US$17 million in investment.

Coelho said that the project was designed in two stages and that the first would focus on maintenance and recovery of areas in which aircraft carry out manoeuvres to ensure safety, whilst the second stage would focus on passenger support areas.

He said that the dir runway at Lucapi, which is 2,300 metres long and 40 metres wide, would be widened to 45 metres, and the Nzagi runway would continue to be 2,000 metres long and 35 metres wide.

Enana’s national director for infrastructure said that the runways would be covered with a semi-rigid surface, thus meeting international standards. (macauhub)
