6 November 2009

Luanda, Angola, 6 Nov – Angola is now the biggest overseas market for Portugal’s Visabeira group, which forecasts sales of US$ 95 million there this year, CEO Paulo Varela said Thursday in Luanda.

The company, based in the northern Portuguese city of Viseu, has been in Angola since 1997 with the creation of the Comatel company, operating in the area of engineering and communications, and is present across Angola in the sectors of construction and maintenance of fixed and mobile phone networks.

Visabeira’s CEO told the Lusa News Agency that Angola is “clearly strategic” for his company which will continue to invest there due to its “unquestionable interest.”

Visabeira now does more business in Angola than in Mozambique where it has been for 20 years compared to just 12 in Angola.

“We have more diversification in Mozambique (…) and we have more activities but sales in Angola a higher than Mozambique. Not because we’ve got smaller in Mozambique but because we’ve grown in Angola.”

TV Cabo is Visabeira’s most prominent company in Angola but the group also operates in the manufacturing sector, forestry, timber treatment, automobile import and distribution, fleet management and hotels. (macauhub)
