Portugal funds reconstruction of road in Sao Tome and Principe

Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, 17 Nov – The government of Sao Tome and Principe Monday signed a deal with a consortium of two Portuguese companies for the reconstruction of 52 kilometres of road to be funded by Portugal.

The work on national road No. 2, to be carried out by Portuguese companies Monte Adriano and Constromé, has a cost of 24.5 million euros and the road links the capital of the archipelago to the south of Sao Tome island.

The funding includes recuperation of 11 bridges that cross several rivers in the districts of Mé Zochi, Cantagaio and Caué.

The date for the start of work has yet to be set, although the contractors have set a period of two years to finish it. (macauhub)
