Washington, USA, 20 Nov – The board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is due Monday to analyse the loan it may grant to Angola at it meeting next Monday, an organisation spokeswoman said in Washington Thursday.
Caroline Atkinson said that the decision would be made public at the end of the meeting but gave no details about the amount of the loan.
Last September, the IMF and the Angolan government in Luanda signed a financing agreement, the amount of which was not publicised, but which the Angolan Economy Minister, Manuel Nunes Júnior said was the biggest funding amount by the IMF to a sub-Saharan African country in the last few years.
Angola has the possibility of receiving US$500 million from the IMF, but hopes to get funding of US$2 billion. (macauhub)
