Lisbon, Portugal, 27 Nov – Portuguese electricity company, EDP –Energias de Portugal continues to focus on wind power in Brazil despite the delay in the auction promoted by the Brazilian government, the group’s chairman, António Mexia said in Lisbon Thursday.
On the sidelines of the “Ibero-American Energy 2050 – Innovation for a Sustainable Future” conference held in Lisbon, Mexia said that the group’s interest in the Brazilian market continued particularly in the wind power sector via EDP Renováveis, the group’s renewable energy company.
“The wind power tender has been delayed. It was supposed to have been yesterday [Wednesday], but has been put off until 17 December,” Mexia said.
Mexia noted the result of the public offering of EDP – Energias do Brasil shares, which was concluded last Wednesday.
The operation netted EDP 441.8 million reals, and according to Mexia, “went very well as demand outstripped availability.” (macauhub)
