Macau’s Legislative Assembly approves budget for 2010

Macau, China, 27 Nov – The members of the Macau Legislative Assembly Friday approved the budget proposal for 2010 by majority, which puts forward revenues of 52.422 billion patacas (US$6.553 billion)

Of the 27 out of 29 members of the assembly, only three members from New Democratic Macau – Ng Kuok Cheong, Au Kam San and Chan Wai Chi – voted against the budget presented by Francis Tam, the Secretary for the Economy and Finance of the government of Edmund Ho, and who will keep his position in the next government led by Fernando Chui Sai On.

The 2010 budget includes expenditure of 44.646 billion patacas (US$5.58 billion).

Macau’s budget for 2010 will be discussed in detail at a later date and only in March of next year will details be known about government expenditure when the new Government, which takes office on 20 December, presents the Government Lines of Action for 2010. (macauhub)
