Bridge over Kwanza River in Angola concluded in March, 2010

Luanda, Angola, 17 Dec – The bridge over the River Kwanza, in Cangadala municipality, in Angola’s Malanje province, which is 308 metres long, will be opened to traffic in the first quarter of 2010, said Ricardo Guimarães, director of the Portuguese contractor, Conduril – Construtora Duriense that is carrying out the work.

The bridge, which has been undergoing refurbishment since January 2008, will have two 3.5 metre-wide lanes.

Refurbishment work on the bridge is estimated to cost US$31.8 million.

Guimarães also said that the bridge over the River Kwanza is one of the most advanced in Angola and the world in terms of its engineering.

The bridge over the River Kwanza provides access to the provinces of Bié, Kwanza Sul and Huambo. (macauhub)
