Lisbon, Portugal, 6 Jan – Portuguese entrepreneurs will travel to Mozambique in February seeking business opportunities or partners, the vice-president of central Portugal’s Santarém Region Business Association (Nersant) has announced.
The association’s 2010 internationalisation strategy places growing emphasis on African countries, especially Portuguese-speaking ones. Hence the need for such initiatives with Mozambique, where the association hopes to take a multi-sector group representing 10-12 companies, Pedro Felix said on Tuesday in Lisbon.
The 22-28 February trip has already registered 11 companies from various sectors, mostly from construction and the metal industry, he told Portugal’s Lusa news agency.
The mission aims to identify local companies, possible clients, suppliers or business partners with whom the participating companies can establish individual contacts.
Institutional meetings will also be held with relevant entities to ensure that the companies have more complete information about the specific nature of the market.
The mission’s destination is Maputo, though “in the future we hope to go to other regions,” Felix said, adding that Nersant is also preparing its presence at that city’s FACIM International Fair.
