18 January 2010

Beijing, China, 18 Jan– Foreign direct investment (FDI) in China in 2009 totalled US$90.03 billion, a fall of 2.6 percent against 2008, the Chinese Trade Ministry said in Beijing Friday.

Ministry spokesman, Yao Jian, noted that the value of FDI posted in December – US$12.1 billion – had been the fifth consecutive monthly rise and a 103 percent rise year on year.

In November, FDI totalled US$7.02 billion, or 32 percent more than in the same month of the previous year, and slightly lower than the US$7.12 billion posted in October.

According to Yao Jian, strong recovery of FDI posted in more recent months shows there has been a boost in confidence in China by foreign investors. (macauhub)
