Dutch company builds patrol ship for Cape Verde

Mindelo, Cape Verde, 19 Jan – Dutch company Damen Shipyards is to build a patrol ship for Cape Verde under the terms of a contract signed Monday between the company and Cape Verdean state port administration company, Enapor.

The patrol ship, which will be used to patrol Cape Verde’s Exclusive Economic Area and to fight international drug trafficking, represents an investment of 10.9 million euros, with the Netherlands providing 36.5 percent of that amount, as part of its cooperation with Cape Verde.

The ship will have capacity for between 18 and 22 crew and around 50 people and is expected to be delivered within 18 months. (macauhub)
