Huambo, Angola, 28 Jan – A new filling line is due to start operating in May at the Sefa soft drinks factory, increasing the company’s production capacity to 10,500 crates per day, the director of the factory said in Huambo Wednesday.
Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, Neto Rocha said that the new filling line represented an investment of US$20 million and that it would make it possible to supply the provinces of Huambo Bié and Moxico.
Neto Rocha added that the equipment for the new line was already in the province and that currently the factory was undergoing refurbishment that would make it possible for the new line to be in operation by next May.
The factory currently uses equipment acquired in the 1970s and produces 3,000 crates of Fanta and Coca-Cola drinks per day.
The factory is located in the Cuca industrial area, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo and employs 130 workers, which is expected to rise to 200 once the new equipment goes online.
The Sefa soft drinks factory is part of Angolan group Valentim Amões. (macauhub)
