Prio-Agricultura to produce vegetable oil in Sofala, Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 29 Jan– Mozambican company Prio-Agricultura plans to invest in construction of a sunflower oil production line under the terms of an agreement signed with the district government of Nhamatanda, in the Mozambican province of Sofala, according to a report in Mozambican newspaper Notícias.

The production director of Prio-Agricultura, Vasco Nunes told the paper that the company would need between 600 and 700 tonnes of sunflower seeds in the pilot phase and later between 1,500 and 2,000 tonnes, and the product would be sold in Mozambique and southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries.

Prio-Agricultura will buy the sunflower seeds in every administrative post and locality and will also produce sunflowers in an area of 6,000 hectares in Metuchira.

Prio-Agricultura is a partnership between Prio, SGPS, of the Martifer group and Visabeira, both Portuguese companies. (macauhub)
