New airline to run daily flights between South Africa and Mozambique

5 February 2010

Johannesburg, South Africa, 5 Feb – A new airline, a TTA Airlink, is due this month to start operating daily flights between Maputo and Johannesburg using turbo-prop Avro RJ85 aircraft, South African daily newspaper Business Day reported.

According to the paper TTA Airlink is a partnership between Mozambican air carrier TTA and SA Airlink, the domestic flight airline of South African Airways (SAA).

With a majority of the capital in the hands of TTA (51 percent), the new airline plans soon to operate Mozambican domestic routes, specifically the link between Maputo, Beira, tete and Nampula, the Airlink official told the paper.

Rodger Foster, the Airlink spokesman, said that the daily flights between Johannesburg and Maputo would, for example, make it possible for businesspeople “to travel in the morning to the Mozambican capital with the possibility of returning to Johannesburg on the same day in the evening.” (macauhub)
