Japan grants US$60 million to rebuild road in Mozambique

8 February 2010

Nampula, Mozambique, 8 Feb – Work on rebuilding and repaving the Nampula-Cuamba road should begin in the second half of this year following the Japanese government’s decision to donate US$60 million for that purpose, Mozambique’s ambassador to Japan has stated in Nampula.

Belmiro Malate highlighted the importance of the project for the just over 300 km of road between Nampula and Cuamba (formerly Nova Freixo), especially for the movement of people and goods through that northern region.

Malate was accompanying a Japanese business delegation which spent several days in Mozambique looking into investment opportunities, especially in the agricultural, mining and tourism sectors. (macauhub)
