Johannesburg, South Africa, 12 Feb – The Standard Chartered Bank Wednesday opened a representative office in Angola, a source from the bank told the Reuters news agency in Johannesburg.
The source said that the Standard Chartered in 2009 was granted a license to operate in Angola and added that it was only a representative office.
The bank is expected to formally announce the opening of the office on Monday.
The Standard Chartered bank operates in 13 African countries.
The Standard Bank, the biggest bank in South Africa by assets, also received a license to operate last year from the Angolan authorities and is due to start operating in the country in the middle of this year. (macauhub)
