Abuja, Nigeria, 24 Feb – Angola’s offshore oil production may double Nigeria’s in 2020, the executive vice-president for sub-Saharan Africa of Royal Dutch Shell has stated.
Angola and Nigeria are rivals for the title of Africa’s number one oil producer. Nigeria may lose the race if it approves some contract changes affecting large oil companies, which would make offshore operations less profitable.
Cited by Reuters, Anne Pickard said on Tuesday that Angola’s offshore production in 2020 may be twice that of Nigeria. She made her comments during an oil sector conference in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
