Melbourne, Australia, 3 March – The Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) from Australia plans to help the East Timor government in creating a chamber of commerce with a view to supporting Timor’s business community, the Australian press reported.
For that purpose, Peter McMullin of VECCI is due travel to East Timor to finalise plans to inaugurate the Timorese chamber of commerce, which will be called de Comércio e Indústria, Timor-Leste and is expected to open next April.
Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão sought out Victoria’s help to set up a chamber of commerce, following the nomination of the former Australian prime minister, Steve Bracks as his personal advisor.
The East Timor Chamber of Commerce and Industry is expected to host its first congress in April shortly after its inauguration. (macauhub)
