Brazilian senate assesses partial pardon of Cape Verde’s debt

4 March 2010

Brasilia, Brazil, 4 March – The Brazilian senate is analysing a proposal to restructure Cape Verde’s debt to Brazil valued at US$3.895 million, senate news agency Agência Senado said on its website.

The aim is to pardon a debt of US$1.198 million relating to late payment interest owed to 31 December, 2008, which was seen favourably by the senate.

The proposal to restructure the debt, which was submitted to the Senate by the Brazilian Presidency, is now at the Commission of Economic Affairs, which is expected to analyse it at the next meeting of the “senatorial college,” the date of which was not reported by Agência Senado. (macauhub)
