Spanish company to build refrigeration facilities in Mindelo, Cape Verde

Praia, Cape Verde, 10 March – Spanish company Ramon Vizcaíno Internacional is to carry out the design and construction project for the refrigeration facilities at the Cape Verdean Port of Mindelo (Sao Vicente Island), a project expected to cost 13 million euros.

The signing of the contract, which will be carried out over the next 18 months, with work concluded in September 2011. Took place Tuesday in Praia, in the presence of the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Telecommunications, Manuel Inocêncio de Sousa and the Spanish ambassador to Cape Verde.

The facility will be installed at the port management company (Enapor) headquarters and is funded as part of a loan provide by the Fund for Development Aid (FAD) of the Spanish Ministry for Industry, Trade and Tourism.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Inocêncio de Sousa said that including a refrigeration complex at the port aimed to provide appropriate facilities for storage and preservation of fish from the industrial fleet operating in the mid Atlantic. (macauhub)
