Mozambican mining and energy sector focus of debate in Maputo

London, United Kingdom, 11 March – The second edition of the Mozambican Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC) is due to take place in Maputo on 22 and 23 April, according to one of the organising company’s, Britain’s AME Trade Ltd.

This second edition plans to continue to show, promote and explore developments in the mining and energy industries and will be jointly organised by state company Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) and by AME Trade Ltd.

The event aims to be a platform to establish business partnerships and discover opportunities in the mining, oil and energy sectors, and will also debate the lessons learned by the main investors, current projects, developments and challenges for these sectors.

Despite the global economic downturn, it is expected that Mozambique’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will remain strong at 4.8 percent growth in 2009 and 5.2 percent in 2010, with significant progress in promoting transparency according to the conference organisers.

AME Trade Ltd is a UK based company operating in Africa and the Middle East that specialises in commercial promotion including Business to Business conferences, public relations and consulting services and ENH is the Mozambican national oil and gas company, founded in 1981 and transformed into a public entity in 1997.
