Macau, China, 29 March – Macau’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) posted real growth of 1.3 percent in 2009 to 169.34 billion patacas (US$21.168 billion), the Statistics and Census Bureau said in Macau Friday.
In the fourth quarter of 2009, Macau’s economy grew by 27.4 percent which led to real GDP growth in the second half of 17.9 percent, as a result of growth of gaming services exports, after posting a real drop of 13.4 percent in the first half due to the international crisis.
In 2009 per capita GDP totalled 311,131 patacas (around US$38,968) and GDP for the second and third quarters of the year were revised from 15.3 percent and 8.2 percent to 14.8 percent and 8.8 percent, in real terms, respectively.
In the period, the weight of net exports of goods and services in GDP rose from 50.5 percent in 2008 to 56.9 percent in 2009 and overall investment fell from 20.3 percent in 2008 to 13 percent in 2009. (macauhub)
