Portuguese businesspeople seek investments in Huíla province, Angola

Lubango, Angola, 21 April – Portuguese businesspeople that are members of the Santarém Region Business Nucleus (Nersant) Monday in Lubango stated their intention to invest in southern Angola, in the areas of construction, professional training and retail.

Speaking at a meeting that the group, which has been in Huíla province since Sunday, had with Governor Isaac dos Anjos, the nine Portuguese businesspeople showed an interest in investing in the region, mainly in Huíla province, given its economic potential.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, the chairman of Nersant, José Eduardo de Carvalho said that the businesspeople would meet with their counterpart members of the Huíla Commercial and Industrial Agri-livestock Association (AAPCIL) to define area in which to invest.

Carvalho also said that the necessary conditions had been created to do some interesting work in Huíla and launch a new stage in the relationship with Angolan counterparts.

Carvalho said there were several industrial projects underway in Portugal for creation of partnerships.

He said the partnerships were not only in the sector mentioned but also in other areas such as footwear manufacture, tanning and agriculture, given the obvious potential of the south of Angola.

For five days the Portuguese businesspeople will visit some of the economic undertakings of the province as well as meet with businesspeople from Huíla. (macauhub)
