Macau, China, 26 April – Macau received 6.1 million visitors in the first three months of 2010, which was a rise of 12.1 percent against the same period of 2009, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said in Macau.
The number of visitors from China (3.3 million), from Taiwan (330,000) and from Japan (105,000) rose 20.9 percent, 5.2 percent and 3.0 percent, respectively, whilst the number of visitors from Hong Kong (1.7 million) fell by 0.3 percent.
In the first quarter 2.5 million arrived in Macau by sea,(4.8 percent more), 3.2 million by land (14.7percent more) and by air almost 432,000 (15.1 percent more).
In March alone Macau welcomed 2.5 million visitors, which was 6.7 percent more than in the same month of 2009.
In 2009 21.7 million tourists visited Macau. (macauhub)
