7 May 2010

Vitória, Brazil, 7 May, Mozambique, 7 May – The 2nd Brazil-Mozambique Business Mission, organised jointly by the Mozambican Consulate in the state of Espírito Santo and the Brazil-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce, is expected to coincide with the International Maputo Fair (FACIM), the Mozambican Consul said in Vitória.

Adilson Neves added that the Paraná international Business Centre (CIN), based in Curitibá at the Federation of Industries of Paraná State (FIEP) would also be involved in organising the mission, with a view to including businesspeople from Paraná in the visit.

The Consul also said that this was the first step for the Mozambican embassy in Brazil to authorise the start of negotiations for setting up the consulate in Curitiba, similarly to what happened with Espírito Santo, where the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo, alongside CIN; “took on the process and ended up hosting, with absolute success the 1st Business Mission in September 2009,” he said.

In 2009, the visit coincided with the Maputo International Fair(FACIM), when 25 businesspeople visited the event and 12 companies took part in the Brazil Pavilion by exhibiting products and services.

The 2nd mission is due to be held in the second half of 2010, once again coinciding with FACIM, which will take place from 30 August to 6 September and which brings together business opportunities in the sectors of agriculture, construction, fashion, urban infrastructure, metallurgy and several other growth areas in Mozambique and in the common market that is being created in Southern Africa.

The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), of which Mozambique is a member, is an economic bloc made up of Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. (macauhub)
