Cape Verde’s special partnership with European Union to bring middle and long term results

10 May 2010

Praia, Cape Verde, 10 May – Cape Verde’s special partnership with the European Union should lead to concrete results in the middle and long terms, the head of the European Commission’s delegation to that country has stated.

Joseph Coll told Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress on Saturday that the level already reached by the partnership, which began in November 2007, would facilitate Cape Verdean life “in all aspects”.

Cape Verde and the European Union will work together towards even greater change for the island country, supporting better governance, more competitiveness abroad and increased trade, Coll said.

Before the special partnership, the EU based its presence in the country on development collaboration almost entirely via public assistance, he added. It is now based on the definition of common interests and on both parties’ contributions towards achieving the same objectives. (macauhub)
