Maputo, Mozambique, 11 May – South African air carrier, South African Airways (SAA), Monday in Durban awarded a prize to Mozambican travel agency Cotur for its performance, the airline said.
Cotur was considered by SAA to be the agency that sold the most tickets for the South African flagship airline out of all countries in the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region.
The director-general of Cotur, Nuro Mahomed, received the nomination at the Indaba tourism fair, which is due to end Tuesday in Durban, at a time when there are just four weeks to go until the first ever world cup football championships on African soil.
Cotur is considered to be one of the biggest and best travel agencies in Mozambique and has won several awards from airlines such as Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) and TAP Air Portugal, amongst others.
Mozambique is taking part in this year’s Indaba, a fair that brings together tour operators, travel agents, hotel agents, tourists and businesspeople, with an official delegation made up of staff from the Tourism Ministry, the National Tourism Institute, the 2010 World Cup technical Office, the Cross-Border Conservation Areas and the Limpopo National Park.
The delegation also includes several private sector operators including 15 hotels and lodges, four travel agencies and state airline, LAM. (macauhub)
