Saurimo, Angola, 17 May – The first phase of the Lobito refinery, with capacity to process 115,000 barrels of oil per day, will become operational in 2014, Petroleum Minister Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos has stated.
The second refinery construction phase will be completed a year later, enabling it to process 200,000 barrels of oil per day, Botelho de Vasconcelos said on Friday in Saurimo, Lunda Sul province, during a meeting of his ministry’s ninth Advisory Council.
Work on building the refinery continues at a good pace, with the ground being cleared and levelled and the access road opened, the minister said.
Construction of the Lobito refinery will allow Angola to meet its fuel needs, he added. (macauhub)
