TAP Air Portugal and Air China begin China-Europe code-sharing agreement in summer

24 May 2010

Beijing, China, 24 May – TAP Air Portugal and Air China will next summer begin issuing a set of tickets for trips between China and Europe, a diplomatic source said on Thursday in Beijing.

The code-sharing agreement reached last week in Beijing involves four European TAP destinations and two large Chinese cities, Beijing and Shanghai, served by the Chinese national carrier.

Business estimates cited by the same source indicate that about 60,000 people travel between Portugal and China each year.

The agreement between the two airlines comes at a good moment regarding Portuguese exports to China, which were up more than 20 percent in 2009, despite the global crisis. (macauhub)
