Maputo, Mozambique, 9 June – The Maputo International fair (Facim) is due to take place between August 30 and September 5, with potential exhibitors having already been invited to put forward their requirement for exhibition spaces, the fair’s organisers said in a statement.
The statement from the fairs, exhibitions and congress management company, SOGEX, cited by Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias, said that all those interested in exhibiting their products and services at Facim 2010 should put forward their proposals by the end of June.
Hosting Facim in downtown Maputo differs from the plan announced in 2009 to transfer the fair to the Ricalta area, in Marracuene district, where at this time there was supposed to be a multi-purpose pavilion concluded or in the final stages of construction. This work has yet to begin.
Th 45th edition of Facim, held last year, brought together around 700 Mozambican companies – 200 more than at the previous fair – as well as the official participation of 14 countries, mainly from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
Figures from the fair’s organisers, showed a significant presence from the region, with companies officially present from South Africa, Angola, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Zambia and Kenya.
Countries such as Portugal, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Indonesia and Vietnam as well as the Macau Special Administrative Region also took part. (macauhub)
