Angolan company invests in granite processing

Lubango, Angola, 11 June – Angolan company Granisul, of the Socolil group, has invested US$30 million in construction of a factory to process granite and produce zinc sheets, the company’s managing director, Gonçalo Torres said in Lubango Thursday.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop about setting up the factory, which is due to start operating in August, Torres said that it would have two production lines, one for tiles and another for zinc sheets.

The factory, built in an area of 3,000 square metres, will have high-end equipment for production and processing of tiles and zinc sheets, set up by technicians from an Italian company.

The factory, which will be receive electricity from four 1,400 kva generator groups also has a warehouse, an area for cutting the stone and zinc sheets, a laboratory and administrative areas.

Torres said that the factory would be supplied by three ornamental rock production companies operating in the municipalities of Chibia and Gambos.

He said that the group planned to open up four warehouses in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Luanda in order to sell the items produced at the factory. (macauhub)
