Brazil’s Embraer does US$1.3 billion deal with UK’s low cost airline Flybe

Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, 21 July – Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer – Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica is to sell 35 jet aircraft to British low cost airline Flybe for US$1.3 billion, the company said Tuesday in a statement.

Embraer’s statement said that the contract signed with Flybe also included 65 options and 40 rights to buy, which means the order could total 140 Embraer 175 aircraft, valued at a total of US$5 billion.

Embraer also said that the aircraft ordered by Flybe would be configured into a single class, with capacity for 88 passengers.

The first Embraer 175s are due to be delivered to Flybe in September 2011 and the last in March, 2017. (macauhub)
