Lisbon, Portugal, 23 July – Portuguese hotel group Pestana is to enter the Angolan market in partnership with Angolan company GBE and Brazil’s Alphaville, the group said in a statement published Thursday in Lisbon.
The statement said that a new company had been set up called Soehotur – Sociedade de Empreendimento Hoteleiros via which the companies will invest US$200 million in the construction of a multipurpose facility in the Angolan capital, Luanda.
The project will be implemented in an area of over 100,000 square metres and will have two towers with 230 one- to six-bedroom apartments, each with a swimming pool, gymnasium and sauna, a further two towers with 14,000 square metres of office space, shops, casino, night club, restaurants and bars, with 600 parking spaces and a five-star hotel with 255 rooms, a spa and tropical gardens, with a swimming pool.
According to Angolahub news agency the Pestana group currently has, via its PH&R – Pestana Hotels and Resorts, 38 units and around 6,500 rooms in Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, Mozambique, South Africa, Cape Verde and Sao Toma and Principe.
The Pestana Group also has six time-sharing facilities, three golf courses, two real estate/tourism resorts, two casino concessions in Madeira and in Sao Tome and Principe, a stake in a charter airline, a travel agency and three tour operators. (macauhub)
