Italy to set up rural investment bank in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 12 Aug – The president of the autonomous Italian province of Trento, announced that a rural development bank would be set up in the Mozambican province of Sofala, and that it would provide financing to the population for projects to develop the local economy.

After contacts with Mozambican President Armando Guebuza, Lorenzo Dellai said that a cooperation agreement would be signed that opened up the way for Trento to work in other areas.

He also announced that a Communication Sciences Research Centre would be set up as would cooperation in the education and agricultural sectors.

Trento first set up cooperation agreements with Mozambique 10 years ago focused on rural areas, specifically in Sofala province, in the centre of the country. (macauhub)
