Maputo, Mozambique, 12 Aug – Indian company JSPL Mozambique Minerals has discovered coal reserves of some 1.65 billion tons following surveys carried out in the Cahora Bassa district in Mozambique’s Tete province, Macauhub has learned from Mining Resources Ministry sources.
In the Cahora Bassa district mining surveys and prospecting are currently being carried out by six licensed companies, including JSPL Mozambique Minerals, ENRC and Vale Moçambique.
According to Macahub’s sources, JSPL Mozambique Minerals has already submitted its feasibility study to request a mining concession for production of 2.5 million tons of coal per year as of 2011.
JSPL Mozambique Minerals expects to increase production to 7.4 million tons of coal per year in 2013. (macauhub)
