Chinese company awarded tender for natural gas project in Mozambique

Beijing, China, 18 Aug – The Daqing Oilfield Drilling Engineering Company, a subsidiary of PetroChina, has been awarded the tender to carry out drilling in Mozambique, the newspaper of holding company China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) reported Tuesday.

According to the newspaper the contract is worth US$15 million and the company will be working in a natural gas field in which Norwegian company Statoil Hydro ASA is the operator and main contractor.

This is the first time that the Daqing Oilfield Drilling Engineering Company has been awarded a contract in Mozambique and, according to the group’s newspaper, this may open up the way to further opportunities in the Mozambican oil and natural gas sector.

The Daqing Oilfield Drilling Engineering Company, based in Heilongjiang province, is involved in CNPC oil projects in Iraq. (macauhub)
