Shanghai businesspeople visit Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 20 Aug – A delegation of 16 businesspeople from the Chinese city of Shanghai arrived in Mozambique Thursday where they are due to stay for ten days, a spokesperson told Macauhub.

The spokesperson said that the Shanghai businesspeople would meet with ministers from the areas of the economy, including the minister for Planning and Development, Aiuba Cuereneia.

The meetings the delegation is due to have Friday, with members of the economic areas of the government will be private, Macauhub learned.

The spokesperson contacted by Macauhub also said that the delegation would visit Catembe, near the city of Maputo, where a new city may be built.

They will also visit the districts of Magude and Manhiça, in Maputo province and the district of Chókwè, in Gaza province.

In the Magude district, on the border with South Africa, Chinese investors from Shandong province plan to build a cement factory, an investment of US$78 million.

Several Chinese business missions have visited Mozambique with a view to exploring business opportunities.

China is one of Mozambique’s strategic partners having recently been amongst the country’s to invest most in the east African nation. (macauhub)
