Cape Verde prepares 2nd edition of International Construction and Housing Fair

20 August 2010

Praia, Cape Verde, 20 Aug – A total of 83 of the 112 stands outlined for the 2nd edition of the International Construction and Housing fair (FICH), which will be held on 1, 2 and 3 October in the Cape Verdean capital of Praia, have been reserved, said the spokesman for the Fair’s organising commission.

At a meeting on the preparations for the fair organised by the Ministry for Decentralisation, Housing and Land Planning, Geiza Tavares said that the reduction in the number of stands, from 128 at the first edition to 112 in this second edition, was an attempt to optimise the fair, with areas for meetings as well as the exhibition area.

According to Geiza Tavares, the second edition of FICH, an investment of around 5 million Cape Verdean escudos, is part of the Houses for All programme and also has the participation of countries such as Luxembourg, Spain (Canary Islands) and France, as well others that did not take part in the first edition of the fair.

“The aim of the fair is to set up a place to share knowledge and experiences, to promote new construction technologies, as well as to establish partnerships, both in the public and private sectors,” said the representative of the FICH Organising Commission.

In order to host the fair, the government set up partnerships with the Sotavento Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Service, the Lisbon International Fair (FIL), the Civil Engineering Laboratory (LEC) and the Cape Verde Association of Young Businesspeople (AJEC). (macauhub)
