Macau, China, 24 Aug – Macau received 14.39 million visitors in the first seven months of 2009, a rise of 18.7 percent against the same period of 2009, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said.
According to figures from DSEC, most of the visitors were from Chinese mainland (7.64 million), which were followed by those from Hong Kong (4.25 million), Taiwan (774,000) and Japan (234,000).
The number of visitors that arrived by sea totalled 5.92 million (22 percent more), 7.49 million (17.5 percent more) arrived by land and the number of visitors that arrived in Macau by air rose to 969,000 (9.1 percent more).
In July alone, 2.68 million visitors entered Macau, most of which (1.14 million) were from China, which were followed by those from Hong Kong (670,000), Taiwan (121,000) and Japan (32,000). (macauhub)
