Canada to continue providing financial support to Mozambique

Nampula, Mozambique, 24 Aug – Canada plans to continue providing financial support to Mozambique, both in direct budgetary aid and support for programmes in the Health, Agriculture and Statistics sectors, the Canadian minister for Cooperation, Beverly Oda said in Nampula.

The minister, who last week visited the city to find out about the province’s level of development and examine the expansion of the sanitation network, which is being carried out using Canadian funds, said during an audience with the provincial governor, that funding would continue, in this case for Health sector projects.

Oda was also informed about other areas that the Nampula provincial government would like Canada to fund, with governor Felismino Tocoli outlining those that are part of the provincial strategic plan for the 2010/2020 period, which will officially be launched on 23 September.

The plan outlines activities to drive economic and social growth, of human resources, infrastructure and promotion of the environment as well as participative governance, according to state newspaper, Notícias. (macauhub)
