Maputo, Mozambique, 30 Aug – Thirty thousand Mozambican farmers and 7,000 from Zambia and will soon benefit from funding of US$8 million for growing and processing soy, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.
The paper added that the project, to be carried out by TechnoServe (http://www.technoserve.org/) and with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is due to be presented Monday in Maputo.
The initiative, which will take place between this year and 2013, will be carried out in Mozambique, in the provinces of Manica, Sofala, Tete, Zambezia, Nampula and Niassa.
Known as “Project for development of the soy value chain,” the idea has the involvement of partners linked to the private sector and producer associations. (macauhub)
