Casino gaming in Macau posts growth of 63.2 pct in first eight months of 2010

Macau, China, 2 Sept – Gross revenues from casino gaming activities in Macau posted growth of 63.2 percent year on year in the first eight months of the year to 117.935 billion patacas (US$14.741 billion), the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

In August alone, the GICB said, revenues from gambling totalled 15.773 billion patacas (US$1.971 billion), with year on year growth of 40 percent.

Only in March did the figures show similar growth (42.4 percent) as monthly growth rates this year have, except for the two months mentioned so far, varied between 62.5 percent in January and 94.1 percent in May.

Macau currently has 34 casinos operated by six companies – Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, Venetian Macau, Wynn Resorts, Galaxy Casino, MGM Grand Paradise and Melco Crown Gaming (Macau). (macauhub)
