7 September 2010

Lisbon, Portugal, 7 Sept – Portugal’s finance Minister and the President of the Treasury and Public Credit Management Institute are due to visit Macau and Hong Kong on 9 and 10 October for “business and financial” contacts, the Finance Ministry said in Lisbon Monday.

The visit by Fernando Teixeira dos Santos and Alberto Soares is for “official bilateral meetings,” with the governments of the special administrative regions of Macau and Hong Kong, according to a statement.

The Finance Minister is also due to speak at a conference lunch at the Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on 9 September in Macau.

In January of this year, the Finance Ministry announced it would hold a roadshow in Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei for contacts with Asian investors, but meanwhile this event was cancelled.

Speaking to Portuguese financial daily Diário Económico, the president of the Treasury and Public Credit Management Institute, Alberto Soares, said that the visit aimed to promote public debt to those investors. (macauhub)
