Intercampus partners KPMG for the 2010 publication of Mozambique’s top 100 companies

9 September 2010

Maputo, Mozambique, 9 Sept – The publication of the results of the 12th edition of the “100 biggest companies in Mozambique” survey is expected to take place in December, the managing director of KPMG, Filipe Mandlate said Wednesday in Maputo.

For this edition, auditing and consulting firm KPMG has partnered market research company Intercampus, of German group GfK, which officially started working in Mozambique in 2007.

According to Mandlate, Intercampus changed the traditional process of sending forms to companies that then filled them out by hand, to an online survey, which will make it possible to “reduce margins of error.”

According to Mandlate, the aim of the surveys over the years has been to promote transparency, provide credibility and increased competition within the business community as well as providing society with a tool for analysis.

As in previous years, KPMG will award six prizes, namely for the biggest company overall by turnover, the biggest private Mozambican company, the biggest company by return on equity, the biggest rise in the list compared to last year, the biggest entry into the list of the top 100 companies and the best company of the year.

In the 2009 edition, Mozal topped the list of 100 companies, whilst the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Facility (HCB) was considered to be the biggest company with private Mozambican capital.

For this edition, KPMG expects over 200 Mozambican companies to take part, as compared with 180 last year. (macauhub)
