Municipality of Viana, Angola inaugurates three-star, 56-room hotel

21 September 2010

Luanda, Angola, 21 Sept – The opening of 33 new hotel units in Angola between 2008 and 2010 created 1,887 new jobs, the deputy minister for Hotels and Tourism, Paulino Baptista said Monday in Luanda.

Making a speech at the opening of the Horizonte Novo hotel, which marked the opening of the government programme for World Tourism Day, celebrated on 27 September, the deputy minister said that, as well as the jobs that were created, the opening of those hotel units had added 2,229 rooms to the accommodation previously available in the country.

Located in the Lunda Sul (Viana) neighbourhood, the new hotel, which is privately-owned, has 56 rooms, five of which are suites, meeting rooms and other facilities, and represents an investment of over US$13 million.

The director general of the company that owns the hotel, Olho Singelo, Ernesto Manuel, said that the new hotel would help to reduce the lack of accommodation in the municipality, as well as de-congesting hotels in the centre of the city. (macauhub)
