Shanghai, China, 27 Sep – Angolan Vice-president Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos has urged Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Angola, stating that the country’s “macroeconomic stability” is a “guarantee of stability and security”.

“The ongoing and internationally recognised economic, fiscal and social reforms well demonstrate the current macroeconomic environment of our country,” Dias dos Santos said on Sunday in Shanghai, during the ceremony marking Angola Day at Expo2010.

He stressed that since Angola’s civil war ended in 2002 its government has been “totally committed to reconstruction and construction” of the country, specifically its railways, roads and bridges.

“We count diverse national and foreign partners. China stands out among them; via its financial institutions and companies it has cooperated in the rebuilding and development of Angola,” he added.

Speaking at the same session, China’s vice-minister of Civil Aviation, Wang Changshun, said that Angola “has abundant natural resources” and has been “China’s biggest commercial partner in Africa” since 2006.

The Angolan vice-president, accompanied by seven ministers from his country, toured Expo2010, which opened last 1 May and runs until 31 October at a site on the banks of the Yangtze River. (macauhub)
