Fortaleza, Brazil, 5 Oct – Portuguese hotel group Vila Galé is expanding its business in Brazil by opening, Tuesday, a new hotel and building tourist condominiums in the state of Ceará, the group’s chairman said Monday in Fortaleza.
Speaking to Portuguese news agency Lusa, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida said that on 5 October the Vila Galé Cumbuco hotel would be opened, 41 kilometres from Fortaleza, in Ceará, the group’s sixth hotel in Brazil, costing an estimated 48 million euros.
“At the beginning of 2011, we are going to launch two residential tourism condominiums also in Ceará,” Rebelo said, noting that around 37 million euros would be invested in these projects.
VG Residence Fortaleza, with 226 apartments will be built in Futuro beach, next to hotel Vila Galé Fortaleza, the group’s first facility in Brazil and another residential project, with 186 apartments, will be near Vila Galé Cumbuco.
According to Rebelo, the group is consolidating its investments in Brazil, and in Ceará, one of the preferred destinations for tourist in northeastern Brazil, and which will be one of the locations for the 2014 World Cup games.
The Vila Galé group manages 23 hotels – 17 in Portugal and six in Brazil, with a total of 11,800 beds and, of that total, 21 are owned by the group and two are under its management – one in Angra dos Reis and another in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco, respectively.
