Luanda, Angola, 5 Oct – The tourism sector in Angola made it possible to create 31,900 jobs in 2009, raising the sector total to 134,600, according to the Statistical Bulletin of the Angolan Hotel and Tourism Market.
The bulletin, an annual publication from the Ministry for Hotels and Tourism which publishes the results of tourism activities in Angola, said that the restaurant sub-sector created the most jobs, rising to a total of 54,300, followed by guesthouses, hotels and travel agencies.
The country’s capital, Luanda, topped the list of provinces that provide most jobs in the sector, and the provinces of Kuando Kubango, Moxico and Bié created the fewest jobs in the sector in 2009.
In the last three years employment in the hotel and tourism sector totalled, 72,100 in 2007, 102,700 in 2008 and 134,600 in 2009. (macauhub)
