Angola visited by over 365,000 people in 2009

Luanda, Angola, 5 Oct – In 2009 Angola received 365,000 visitors on tourist, business and working trips, according to the statistical bulletin of the Ministry for Hotels and Tourism for 2009.

Citing figures from the document, Angolan news agency Angop said that the number represented a rise of 24.3 percent, or 71,000 more people than in 2008.

By continents, Europe headed the list with 161,000 visitors (129,00 in 2008), followed by America with 76,000 (59,000 in 2008) and Asia with 75,000 (63,000 in 2008), with Africa in fourth place with 48,000 visitors (38,000 in 2008).

According to the bulletin, the biggest number of people visited in August, accounting for 20 percent of all people that arrived that year, and of the total 42 percent of people travelled to Angola on holiday or to visit family and 37 percent on working visits, with the remaining 21 percent travelling for business or in transit.

By country of origin there were 86,000 visitors from Portugal, 51,000 from China and 46,000 from Brazil. (macauhub)
