Maputo, Mozambique, 5 Oct – The World Bank last week approved four loans to Mozambique worth a total of US$143 million to support social development projects the Mozambican press reported.
Of that amount, US$50 million are to fund the second phase of the Maputo Development programme (ProMaputo) and the remainder to fund health projects (US$39 million), water services and institutional support (US$34 million) and technical assistance for planning of spatial development (US$20 million).
Funding for the water supply service and institutional support will improve coverage and consequently increase access to drinking water in Beira, Nampula, Quelimane and Pemba.
The Maputo Municipal Development Programme is set to increase coverage and quality of services to residents, continuing to boost its institutional and financial capabilities. (macauhub)
